The Day is Long without You
The day is long without you; dawn ‘til dusk,
With pleas and cries, I waste another morn;
But little you saw in me without scorn;
My heart at your feet, you despise my musk.
In jungles one fears the elephant’s tusk;
Here, scared of your rejection; my forlorn,
Which I can’t seem to sound out through this horn;
This sadness I hide, safe beneath this husk;
This shakes me so. For you! I must show still
Happiness to all those who are around;
So might I, with hopes turning deathly ill,
Have the strength to give love and to astound;
I still plead to cupid, to cease to fill,
Love for you, already I have a mound.
